MagicAntioquia is a free directory and editorial guide to discovering Antioquia, Colombia: verified routes, real places, a map by subregion, and content written from real research, not generic filler.
All of Antioquia, not just the well-known spots
Guatapé, Comuna 13, and Jardín already get plenty of tourism coverage. Antioquia has 9 subregions and distinct cultures — Paisa, coastal and Afro-descendant in Urabá, mining in Bajo Cauca, riverside in Magdalena Medio, among others — and most barely show up in traditional guides. We want the map and blog on this site to eventually reflect that full Antioquia, not just the already-crowded circuit.
Culture, trades, and the stories still told in the countryside
The blog didn't stop at routes and transport details: we also cover the culture of each subregion — Paisa muleteers and balcony towns, the Afro-descendant heritage of Urabá and Bajo Cauca, riverside life in Magdalena Medio — and the folklore still passed down by word of mouth, like La Madremonte, El Mohán, or La Llorona Antioqueña. Knowing a place means knowing both its geography and its stories.
How we work
We verify every photo and fact before publishing it — real usage license and confirmed location, not a generic stock image. When we don't have something verified yet, like physical accessibility details for a place, we say so plainly instead of making it up. We'd rather have an incomplete site that's honest than a complete one that's inaccurate.
What we want to achieve
That anyone, from Antioquia or from another country, can plan a real trip through the region with reliable information, and that tourism businesses in less-visible areas have a place to show up. This project runs on voluntary contributions and, eventually, on paid placements for businesses that want more visibility, without that changing the honesty of the editorial content.
Where MagicAntioquia is headed
This is an actively growing project: we keep adding verified places, expanding cultural content subregion by subregion, and looking for ways to reach more people. What doesn't change is the standard: we only publish what we've verified, and we say clearly when something isn't yet.
